Les Deux Alpes

Les Deux Alpes is an all year round resort because it is home to Europe’s largest skiable glacier. This ensures a winter season with good quality snow from the end of October to the beginning of May. It is in the centre of the ‘Grande Galaxie’ area made up of Alpe d’Huez, Serre Chevalier, Voie Lactée, La Grave and the Vallons de la Meije areas. All of these areas are included in the 6 day ski pass.

Les Deux Alpes has a fast and effective lift system including 1 funicular, 4 gondolas, 23 chair lifts, 19 tows and 2 cable cars. With the top lift reaching 3568m and over 200km of pistes to explore, the area caters for all skill levels, for beginners just as well as for the many pro riders who descend on the resort in October for the, now legendary, Mondial event. This sees 5000+ snowboarders and snowboard manufacturers take over the town for a few days, testing all of next season’s equipment.

Les Deux Alpes also has plenty to offer in the summer season. The lifts to the glacier are open from 18th June 18 to 27th Aug (in 2005). The glacier features a very well-maintained Snowpark which includes 2 pipes, serviced by their own lift and funicular. In the summer, the glacier is open from 07.15-13.30 every day which leaves plenty of time in the afternoon to enjoy some of Deux Alpes' many summer activities, for example, mountain-biking, horse-riding or archery.

Les Deux Alpes offers everything you need in order to enjoy your holiday. There are plenty of shops to buy/rent ski and snowboard gear. There are also 20+ restaurants, 25+ bars and 3 clubs to keep you entertained in the evenings.
